It’s time to start thinking about bringing home a Thanksgiving turkey, only instead of taking a life, consider making this Thanksgiving about giving life.

Turkeys are my favorite animals when I go to visit the shelter.  Chickens there usually run away from strangers, but the turkeys are curious and gentle, especially the males, who come as fast as they can to see us and then hang out, just looking at us and accepting petting of their soft heads and feathers.  I wish there was some way I could keep them in my yard, but I don’t think I have the resources.  So I’ll do the next best thing.  For $30 I can “adopt” a turkey so she can live her life in peace on a farm shelter.  She’ll be in our hearts as we enjoy our feast.
