Moon Pies

Refrigerator Soup and French Rolls

Dinner tonight was Refrigerator Soup with garlic, celery, green beans, sweet potato, Swiss chard, cauliflower, red beans, and Massel’s chicken-style bouillon cubes.  With that we had defrosted French Bread Rolls.

Moon Pies

For dessert we had Moon Pies from Eco-Bella Bakery, a vegan gluten-free bakery.  I think this is the smallest business I have ever been in, having never actually been inside a Fotomat.  There was just enough room for three of us to stand inside in front of the counter, and just enough room for the guy to sit behind it.  He was sitting at the counter and in the middle of the kitchen all at once.  They will be moving down the street next week and expect to add seating and beverages.

The moon pies were available in chocolate or vanilla cookie (or half-n-half) with chocolate or vanilla frosting.  I was afraid the frosting would be cream-cheesey, but it wasn’t – it tasted like doughnut filling, light and really sweet.  I need to figure out how to make that.  These were really rich and I think we could have been happy with half a pie each.  We also got some Chocolate Crinkles there for an afternoon treat, and those were good, too, though we expected them to be crisp.
