Paul and Elizabeth’s

Posted by tinako on November 26, 2010

We had dinner at Paul and Elizabeth’s in Northampton, Massachusetts.  We were tired from shopping and it was just wonderful.  As a vegan, it is so affirming to be able to ask if something is vegan and not get “the look” that tells me I am weird.  Also, I never had such fast service.

I ordered a special, which was probably their regular menu’s Fried Organic Tofu and Vegetable Stir Fry but it also came with a salad and two patties which seemed to be barley and herbs.  It was very flavorful.  She asked if I ate honey and it turns out the sesame dressing for the patties has honey, but they didn’t need it.  The vegetables as I recall were mostly broccoli and kale – I need to learn how to make stir-fry this good – it was quite salty so probably a TON of soy sauce.

Others in our party ordered end enjoyed the black bean soup and noodles in broth (both vegan), french fries (not sure), whole wheat rolls (a web site review said they were not vegan.  I didn’t ask, but what’s up with that?), and salad.  Their kids menu was very thoughtful.

Two of us got dessert, the others opting for the ice cream store below (which had vegan sorbet).  I ordered the chocolate mousse.  They had nice organic tea as well.
