Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin Bread (Machine)

Whole Wheat Raisin Bread

Whole Wheat Raisin Bread

This is the only bread I make in my bread machine.  The recipe is adapted from the Oster manual.  I use the 1.5# version and it fills my 2# pan.  Use the sweet setting and “light” color if you have the option.

  • 1-1/4 c warm water (microwave 30 seconds)
  • 2 T oil *
  • 2 c whole wheat flour
  • 1-1/4 c white flour
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1-1/2 t salt
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 2 t yeast
  • Mix-in when the machine beeps: 3/4 c raisins

* I have noticed that the oil I use makes a huge difference in whether this loaf rises well.  I used to use regular canola oil all the time, and that was fine, but I switched brands and it didn’t seem to work as well.  Coconut oil = no.  Sunflower oil was not working.  Peanut oil and extra virgin olive oil worked, and gave no weird flavor.  If your loaf doesn’t rise well, perhaps try another oil.

I’m glad you like it. I’ve added a comment about oils from what I’ve noticed lately.
