Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is adapted from Veganomicon, by Moskowitz and Romero.  It is not health food (see Colossal Chocolate Chippers for a healthier option) but they are perfect for taking to a gathering, where you are more interested in impressing than in watching fat intake.

Preheat oven to 350.  Combine in a large bowl:

  • 2 c flour
  • 2/3 c cocoa powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt

Combine in a small bowl:

Blend wet mix into dry and add:

Batter is wetter than typical cookie dough.  Drop in 1″ globs onto lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake 10 min.  Do not check for doneness; just take them out when the timer goes off.  Let sit 5 min and then transfer to a cooling rack.  The first time I made these without cocoa I tried to get them browned, which took quite a while, and they ended up way too crisp.

Variation:
Leave out cocoa to make regular Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I did this once but don’t remember if I had to add a bit more flour so they weren’t too runny.

The book has more variations.  Check it out!
